Seeking Contestants for Network Reality Show In Sacramento, CA

Casting Directors are looking for the perfect neighbors as contestants for a network reality show in the Sacramento area. Each contestant will receive landscaping materials and a professional landscaper to help transform both yards as you and your neighbor compete for the best finished product in this reality landscaping competition.

Submission Rules and Requirements:

*Applicants must be neighbors- live in the same area, preferably a couple of houses away.
*Applicants must know each other.
*Applicants must own property or have written permission from landlord.
*All applicants must include a video submission or Option B.

Option A: Video Submission (1 video per set of neighbors)
Must be 3 min in length_Quality: Videos do not need to be professionally made; we want to see how you really are.

Content: please include the following:
~why you are a good candidate for the show
~explain the relationship/history between neighbors
~why you deserve yard makeovers
~explain why you think you'll beat out your neighbor
~introduce of all family member who would like to be involved in the show
~include footage of exterior of houses, and yards

-1 page essay which must include:
-why you are a good candidate
-explain the relationship/history between neighbors

- explain why you think you’ll beat out your neighbor

-5 photos of yards/exterior of houses
-include captions to explain photo

Lives on Hold

Most Reality Series do require contestants to be gone for a significant period of time. To keep the results of the series secret, even the first person voted off will stay away for the length of the series (they usually are sent to a resort or on a vacation). Whether or not the contestant takes a leave of absence from their job, disappears for a long vacation, or quits altogether varies widely.

Some shows, particularly those without game elements, offer stipends to compensate their cast members. "Real World" roommates are paid small stipends for their "story rights"; the exact total isn't disclosed, but executive producer Jonathan Murray told USA TODAY, "I used to say it was enough to buy a used car. Now it's probably not quite as big a used car."

One thing's clear, though: You should want to be on a reality series for the experience, because participation in a series definitely does not come with a guarantee of fame and fortune.

Even if a show pays out a big prize (a lot of which will be eaten by taxes) and pays out smaller cash prizes to the losers, it's doubtful you'll become rich. And after you embarrass yourself on national TV, you very well may lose your job, too.

As to how the contestants pay their rent or mortgage while they're gone, some shows are condensed into two months or less. We assume folks dig into savings or plan ahead to ensure bills are paid before leaving for a show.

The Reality Show Casting Call

The open call will really be your one chance to make an impression to casting assistants, producers, or whoever is checking to see if you would make good TV. Be prepared, though, for a long wait, and don't be upset if you only get two minutes to make your case to someone in casting. You only have so much time to make a positive impression, and if you are successful in being personable and enthusiastic you will be remembered as a good candidate.

Have a good idea of some of the things you'd like to bring up in an interview, but also be prepared to be hit with some unexpected questions. If you are applying for a game show, there will also likely be a quiz to gauge your knowledge. It's difficult to study for these sort of things, and oftentimes the best thing you can do is frequently watch the show to see the type of questions they ask.

Another big rule is to not ramble on about yourself. When nervous, all of us have a tendency to go on and on, and this isn't always beneficial. Also, if you act rude or impatient, people will notice. Producers will be willing to put up with a certain amount of drama, especially if they want some strong personalities on their show. However, they are not going to tolerate someone being hateful or complaining about your treatment. If you're applying for a talent show, be nice to your judges and thank them even if they criticize you.

If you go in to an interview at a casting call relaxed and ready to have a good time, then you can leave knowing that you've made the best impression that you can.
